Matt Shapiro is the VP of Investments & Strategy at York IE, where he focuses on investing in and supporting early-stage software and tech-enabled businesses. He began his career at Google before joining startups, including ProfitWell, a bootstrapped SaaS business that exited for $200M, where he focused on pricing and monetization.

Matt is actively involved in ETA-adjacent industries through his board roles with companies such as Alivo (roofing), SetSale (HVAC), and Franzy (franchising and multi-unit operations). In these roles, he works closely with operators on pricing, systems, customer acquisition, and growth execution—bringing a practical, operator-first lens to improving business performance.

Based in Charlotte, Matt is excited to contribute to the ETA CLT community by helping bridge perspectives between software, operations, and traditional small business ownership.

Outside of work, Matt can usually be found “vibe coding” AI side projects, chasing around his son, attempting to fix his golf swing, or planning his next adventure vacation.
